Do's – What To Do
- ✓Arrive 15–20 minutes before your scheduled time
- ✓Bring your doctor's prescription and previous test reports
- ✓Inform staff about any allergies — especially iodine or contrast dye
- ✓Tell us if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- ✓Disclose all medications, especially Metformin (for diabetics) before contrast CT
- ✓Fast for 4–6 hours if a contrast CT scan is ordered
- ✓Wear comfortable, loose clothing without metal zippers or buttons
- ✓Drink adequate water (unless fasting instructions given) to stay hydrated
Don'ts – What To Avoid
- ✕Do not eat or drink for 4–6 hours before a contrast CT (if instructed)
- ✕Avoid wearing jewellery, chains, earrings or hairpins into the scan room
- ✕Do not carry metal items — keys, belts, coins, or credit cards
- ✕Avoid applying body lotion or cosmetics on the scan day
- ✕Do not take Metformin 48 hours before and after a contrast CT (consult doctor)
- ✕Avoid moving during the scan — even slight movement can blur the images
- ✕Do not hide medical history from the technician — it affects your safety
- ✕Avoid breastfeeding for 24–48 hours after contrast injection (consult doctor)
