Trusted diagnostic services with the latest digital X-ray technology. Fast, affordable, and reliable abdominal radiography for bowel, organ, stone, and gas pattern assessment.
At Usmanpura Imaging Centre, we offer digital Abdomen X-Ray services across 8 branches in Ahmedabad. A plain abdominal radiograph (KUB – Kidneys, Ureters, Bladder) or erect/supine abdomen X-ray remains one of the most important and cost-effective investigations in clinical medicine – rapidly providing critical information about bowel obstruction, free gas, kidney stones, calcifications, and organ shadows.
Unlike older film-based X-ray systems, our advanced Digital Radiography (DR) technology produces sharper, higher-resolution images with significantly lower radiation dose in a matter of seconds. Images are instantly available for reporting, and your expert radiologist's report is ready the same day – delivered digitally via WhatsApp and email for immediate clinical action.
Digital X-ray takes seconds to acquire. Same-day report delivered via WhatsApp within hours.
Abdomen X-Ray is the most cost-effective imaging investigation for acute and chronic abdominal conditions.
Our DR system delivers high-quality images at significantly lower radiation dose than older analogue X-ray equipment.
Fast, affordable, and reliable. Erect, supine, lateral decubitus, and special views – all available at our 8 branches across Ahmedabad.
An Abdomen X-Ray (plain abdominal radiograph) is a simple, rapid imaging examination that uses a carefully calibrated beam of X-rays to produce a two-dimensional image of the abdominal organs and structures. The resulting image, captured on a digital detector panel, shows various structures based on their density – gas (black), soft tissue (grey), fat (darker grey), and bone/calcium/metal (bright white).
The most common views include the Erect AP (upright, front-to-back) – which is the primary view for detecting free intraperitoneal gas (perforation) and air-fluid levels (obstruction); the Supine AP – used to assess bowel gas distribution, organ sizes, and calcifications; and the Lateral Decubitus – used when the patient cannot stand, to detect small amounts of free air.
A KUB X-Ray (Kidneys, Ureters, Bladder) is a specific abdominal X-ray focused on the urinary tract for detecting radio-opaque kidney stones, ureteric calculi, and bladder stones. It covers from the upper poles of the kidneys to the bottom of the bladder in a single image.
You stand (erect view) or lie on the table (supine view) as positioned by our radiographer
A precisely calibrated X-ray beam passes through your abdomen for a fraction of a second
The digital detector captures transmitted X-rays based on tissue density differences
A high-resolution digital image is instantly displayed for the radiographer's quality check
Senior radiologist reviews the image and issues a detailed report with clinical findings
A plain abdominal X-ray, though simple, provides critical diagnostic information across multiple organ systems when interpreted by an expert radiologist.
Air under the diaphragm on erect X-ray is the classic sign of bowel or visceral perforation (perforated peptic ulcer, bowel perforation) – a surgical emergency. Erect X-ray is the first test ordered.
Dilated loops of small or large bowel with multiple air-fluid levels on erect X-ray indicate mechanical bowel obstruction. Distribution of dilated bowel helps distinguish small from large bowel obstruction.
Radio-opaque calculi in the kidney, ureter, and bladder are visible on KUB X-ray. About 80% of urinary tract stones are radio-opaque and detectable on plain X-ray.
Identifies gallstones (10% are radio-opaque), pancreatic calcification (chronic pancreatitis), vascular calcification (aortic aneurysm wall), lymph node calcification (TB), and calcified fibroids.
Assesses gross organ sizes – hepatomegaly (enlarged liver), splenomegaly (enlarged spleen), and renal size. Detects abnormal organ positions and psoas muscle shadow assessment.
Visualizes lumbar vertebrae, sacrum, pelvis, and lower ribs for fractures, metastatic bone disease, degenerative changes, and incidental bony pathology in the X-ray field.
Detects swallowed foreign bodies, ingested batteries or coins, surgical clips, stents, IUD coils, piercings, and gun-shot pellets anywhere within the abdominal X-ray field.
Identifies soft tissue masses distorting normal abdominal outlines, retroperitoneal collections displacing bowel, bladder size, and pro-peritoneal fat stripe assessment in trauma cases.
We offer all standard and specialized abdominal radiography views to match your doctor's clinical requirements.
The most clinically important abdominal X-ray view. The patient stands upright for this projection. Essential for detecting free subdiaphragmatic gas (bowel perforation) and demonstrating air-fluid levels in bowel obstruction. Always the first view requested in acute abdomen.
The patient lies flat on their back. This view assesses the overall bowel gas distribution, organ outline (liver, spleen, kidneys), vascular calcifications, calcified structures, and is used as the baseline view for serial comparisons in bowel obstruction monitoring.
Kidneys-Ureters-Bladder: a dedicated abdominal radiograph covering from the top of the kidneys to the symphysis pubis. The first-line investigation for suspected radio-opaque urinary tract stones. Also used to track ureteric calculi position and monitor known stones.
The patient lies on their side – a useful alternative to the erect view for detecting free intraperitoneal air in patients who cannot stand. The left lateral decubitus position (right side up) is preferred for best free gas detection.
The most common combination requested in acute abdominal emergency – together they provide maximum information about bowel obstruction, free gas, and abdominal pathology. Most emergency departments request both views together as the standard "acute abdomen series."
Tailored projections for specific clinical needs – oblique views for better visualization of specific calculi, lateral view of the lumbar spine in the same projection, follow-up views for known stones, post-procedure abdominal X-rays, and check X-rays after NG tube or drain placement.
Your doctor may recommend an abdominal X-ray for any of the following symptoms, conditions, or clinical situations.
Understanding the role of each imaging modality helps your doctor choose the most appropriate investigation for your clinical situation.
Abdomen X-Ray is one of the simplest imaging procedures. Minimal preparation is required in most cases.
